You’ll never see them again…

We all do it. We’re at a public event – a concert say – and we’re hyperaware of what others around us are doing. How they’re acting, who they’re with, but also – what do they think of me? Feeling comfortable in your own skin … Continue reading You’ll never see them again…

All Over In A Flash…

You think it’s going to be forever. That it’s written in stone and that’s just how it is. And then it’s all over in a flash.

The future looks uncertain.

That relationship, that job, that opportunity – just up in smoke.

So how do you deal with it?

Simple really. You control the one thing in life that you can control. You.

In Hamilton they sing that and it’s never been more true. When all about you are losing their heads, keep yours.

Look at the bigger picture. Identify how you can pivot not only to survive, but also to thrive!

Change brings uncertainty, but it also brings a whole new world of opportunities. Opportunities that you were unlikely to need to experience before.

Take stock. Be aware of how others are reacting, but do not rely on their reactions to influence or define your own.

You control you. Take control.

Automation – Liberating or Tedious?

When you get to a stage where you are able to automatically achieve optimal outcomes, does this create liberation or tedium?

Achieving to the extent of not having to think about the processes required to get to the desired result, demonstrates a mastering of your craft.

But does it feel liberating to no longer have to think about things? Or is it instead tedium-inducing that you are no longer being challenged mentally?

Firstly you have to appreciate that your increased efficiency has come from the dedication of time and effort to hone your craft. The mistakes and hours put in have led to this. Embrace the fact that you’ve mastered it!

But beyond that, realise that you risk stagnating.

We grow when we’re pushed outside of our comfort zones. Mastery leads to comfort. Comfort leads to stagnation.

So what’s next?

Find the next level up and identify where growth can happen.

Reached the management level? What’s the next rung on the ladder?

Achieving X amount of sales? What’s the next scaling option?

Solved all of the problems in your field? Who needs the answers?

If you’ve grown to the limits of your bubble, burst it to create a bigger one!

Comfort gives us an ability to bask in the glory. The glory that comes from knowing that what is asked of us can be provided with ease. Use this skill to now pull others up.

But in doing so, don’t be left behind. Push yourself, especially when it feels that nobody else is doing so.

Push beyond the boundaries and force progress.
